    "Could I move in there?"

    Posted: 19 Nov 2020 04:53 PM PST

I just murdered everyone in the Balmora Council Club. By the logic of Morrowind and how you can make a base anywhere, could I move in and not fear for any issues in the future?

my gamma correction slider stopped doing anything, out of nowhere

    Posted: 20 Nov 2020 02:53 AM PST

i've played through this game so many times, and almost always with the gamma boosted because it strains my eyes otherwise (and kinda makes me upset but we'll blame autism for that one). i wanted to start a new playthrough and i went to change the gamma and the slider did nothing. it all just stayed the same, dark, no matter where the slider was.

im playing now with the gamma as is but it's not going to be as comfy of a playthrough.

any idea what happened? how do i fix it? i've already uninstalled twice

Looking for an old mod - flying home, possibly dwemer, could "fly" to cities or locations and had a battle simulator onboard

    Posted: 19 Nov 2020 01:22 PM PST

Hi all, I'm busy hunting down all my favourite mods from a decade ago to try out on openmw on my phone.

There's one mod that's eluded me that would finish off my collection. It was a flying ship or house type mod with all sorts of features like teleporting/flying to towns and also an onboard battle simulator. It had a dwemer mechanical look and sound to it especially when you would press the button to move the house.

I hope someone out there knows which mod I mean. I even remember to board your giant floating house there was a ladder to represent how you boarded it. I think I also recall the mod placing this giant thing slap bang in Seyda Neen (or maybe it was Balmora!).

    Thanks :)

    Chapter 4: Rise to glory

    Posted: 19 Nov 2020 10:39 PM PST

So I'm a blade now. I met that Caius fellow, and apparently he's a skooma addict. Apparently he's also the leader of the blades. For the leader of such an important government organization you'd think he could afford a shirt, but then again who would wear one with muscles that big.

I went to the cornerstone and found him pretty quickly. I also met a thieves guild member, but like I said I'll be staying away from that for the time being. The bartender pointed me towards Caius. I feel like I have been waiting for something like this for a long time. The chance for a more important life and a reason to go on as more than a poacher is honestly what I've been waiting a long time for.

I suppose this journal is more important now. As a blade I'm likely to be in much more perilous situations, and as I have no family I suppose this will be the last trace of my life story. I am aware I'll likely be killed as a blade, but my parents would be proud of me.

I guess, if this is really my story, I should say what happened. My father was a former soldier. He was not a formal imperial soldier, but he worked alongside them as a private mercenary. Usually Cyrodil hates sellswords but he was simply that good. Eventually he signed up formally and served in some war he never talks about. He always said it was "grown-up" stuff, and I guess he wasn't around long enough for me to become a grownup.

The mine manager he worked for after the war worked him to the bone and let the mine collapse on him when he was working late one night, all just to save a few dollars replacing the wooden beams. Weeks later, When I realized this and said it to the guards I quickly noticed that they were in the manager's pocket. I kept trying to find someone who could do something as the stupid child I was. 6 months after, to shut me up, my mother and I were attacked while she tried to gather mushrooms for soup. She was tragically kidnapped and I tried to tell the guards, but they didn't budge. At this point I realized what was going on.

I was 15. My father was killed by the manager's cheap use what was nearly slave-labor to keep the towns men in check, and my mother and I were to be killed to shut us up. There was one thing he forgot: my dad was a soldier. And he taught me a lot.

I was too small to wield a sword like I can now, but I was able to learn enough about archery. I took a bow and tried to get my mother out by distracting the bandit guards with arrows I shot elsewhere. I did, and managed to free her, but as we ran we were spotted and she was shot in the leg.

She was a smart lady and she knew how to treat things, but there weren't enough resources to fight the fever. We managed to live in the woods and hide for 2 years, but she never truly beat that infection, whatever it was. She died on the coldest day of winter.

I continued living off the land and "poaching" for a while, but the day my mother died was my final straw with corruption in the system. I snuck back into town with the skills I learned in the last 2 years of hunting. The slave manager never saw me coming. Despite the years of prison time I got for poaching, stealing, and even fighting in jail in the 2 years after, the fat mine manager's tragic accident was never linked to me. After all, who could guess that by an ironic twist of fate his very house could collapse on him just as his mine did? It must have been simply terrifying to be crushed like that.

Anyways, I made my way back into the woods and headed to cyrodil. I sold pelts to towns for money, brewed potions and sold them sometimes, and almost had enough to buy a house. Then I got caught poaching. In the evidence room, they found food I had stolen from the town to make up for the bad hunt that year. Then I got in a fight with a guy in my cell who thought he could make an example of a 17 year old kid and look tough. He didn't do that.

Dads practice with a bow and hand-to-hand helped me get through prison, but I always promised that I'd learn to use a sword if I got out, in his honor. I spent the time in that prison stealing the guards books. I think some of them knew about it, but I always put them back so they didn't seem to care. I did get caught once though, and it was pretty rough. I was beaten and didn't get fed for 3 days.

I stopped stealing books after that, but one guard would actually loan them to me, so that was ok. His name was Agariel. He was a good friend, and I even considered joining The legion after I got out to work with him (if they'd take a former poacher).

Anyways, after one fight I nearly killed an older orc when he hit his head. Thats what led to me being shipped here. I honestly thought I had killed him and was going to be executed for it. The rest is history.

Anyways, I also joined the fighters guild to keep appearances as an adventurer. They seem neutral politically, and I don't know the region well enough to join a clan. I don't wanna join the thieves guild and magic seems too hard to learn, so I had no more options. maybe the fighters guild can help me learn fencing like my dad.

I killed rats for a woman as an initiation to the fighters guild. She paid me 100 gold, which I needed after buting the armor. She let me read her book on fencing as well, which taught me a little bit about how to parry. I decided to take another mission and rapidly help the townsfolkto gain their trust, but apparently I already had. My next mission was to kill 2 poachers in the egg mine, but upon asking around I realized that they were the ones who I had killed in self defense earlier. Then I collapsed and rested to regain my strength.

Eydis promoted me to apprentice and then journeyman in rapid succession. After that I was assigned a strange mission: kill 4 thieves, one of them a former guild member, and protect a local mine. I heard something about the involvement of the telvanni and thieves guild but I didn't care until I started the job. The truth is, this job involves crossing them and that worries me.

Before making a final decision I went into the mountains to train. I spent a few days repairing my armor, training my boxing skills, and learning how to do a restoration spell. After I felt enough time had passed, I walked to the next town. Then I found the money I had made from my missions would be well spent on a new shield and armor. I also obtained a massive nordic longsword and decided to use that.

As I journeyed around, I met a naked man and a merchant. The naked man had his clothes stolen by a witch and the merchant needed an escort. After the naked man got lost somewhere I guided the merchant to a harbour town. There, I was given some boots that blinded me when I wore them, but made me insanely fast. I let them go until I heard that their was a bounty on their head. Until we meet again, douche.

Anyways I somehow wound up in a tomb. Apparently my new sword doesn't work on ghosts, so I just boxed them and took some cool stuff. On my way back to sell it, however, I contracted blight from a cliff racer. This was awful and very painful. I staggered into town, weakened and barely able to stand. The guild guide sent me back to balmora, and after downing every fix attribute and cure disease potion I had, I decided to ask the gods for mercy. After the opportunity I've been given, maybe I do need to try and pray some more. Obviously someone is looking out for me. I crawled up onto my feet, somehow healed from my blight, and collapsed in a guild bed.

I felt myself stronger than ever when I awoke, and I knew it was time. I had to make a decision on these telvanni agents or whatever the thieves guild was up to here. I need to do this now.

(Break character) Hey guys, sorry for the wait: my family got a new puppy last week and I've been crazy busy between her, work and school. That being said, I enjoyed writing this. I typically hate exposition dumping of this size in a story, but it makes sense here as Kailob may not live to see another day (even tho I can guarantee there are at least 2 more instalments worth of playtime waiting for me to write them).

I'll probably develop Kailob a bit more naturally as the story goes on. Its super exciting knowing that this journal isn't just a bunch of jot notes of gameplay but an actual story. One where I don't even know the ending! Its super cool and I hope you like my writing style as I've never written outside of school before. I have to say, I really enjoy this but a consistent schedule isn't really something I'm sure I can do for the next few weeks, so sorry in advance. Thanks for reading, please leave any feedback you can!

People who played Morrowind without using any sort of armor/clothing (fully nude), how was your experience?

    Posted: 19 Nov 2020 11:56 AM PST

Morrowind literally gives me a headache.

    Posted: 19 Nov 2020 07:49 PM PST

I LOVED Skyrim and Oblivion and decided to buy morrowind as it's in the same series and is said to be the best one. I also downloaded MGE XE to make the resolution and have more distant terrain. Does anyone have any ways to solve this? I really want to have fun with this game but the headache just gets in the way. Some people say changing the FOV will help.

TL;DR getting, headaches, will give updates if solved.
