    Grateful this community exists

    Posted: 23 Apr 2020 06:46 PM PDT

I just stumbled into this community for the first time.

I'm not sure why I never thought to look for it before but considering the current circumstances in the world. The mere existence of this sub just made my day. I've definitely spent too much time on other subreddits covering the virus and politics (US), it was too much lol.

I spent all of high school and part of college play the GOTY Xbox edition. Hands down my favorite game I've ever played, and greatest storyline of an RPG. I think I honestly learned more about the details of the game than I ever did in my actual education.

Either way, I just wanted to stop in to say hi 👋

The final Boss of The escort quests

What Are Some of the Best Quest (And The Quest Lines They Are a Part of)?

    Posted: 23 Apr 2020 08:45 PM PDT

    Greetings.

I've started replaying through Morrowind with a mostly RP unrestricted character. Basically I made a character that can steal anything he finds worthwhile (especially books), and will join all quests that are considered interesting, or that could possibly become interesting, regardless of evil/good alignments, faction conflict, etc.

I've been completing guild of thieves, mages, and imperial quests, but there were also too many fetch quests with less significant dialogue than I would've liked. Since this game has way too many quests for me to find and complete them all, especially in a single playthrough, I was wondering what are the "must experience quests/quest lines" besides the ones from the main quest and the few Daedric lord quests?

For reference, I especially enjoy quests with unique dialogue, that feel impactful lore wise, or that are just plain fun.

    Thanks for your time!

Edit: If possible, it would be nice to know what are some of the more interesting books in Morrowind as well.

Morrowind is now my favorite TES game

    Posted: 23 Apr 2020 09:48 PM PDT

I started playing the Elder Scrolls games with Skyrim around 3 years ago so I was a bit late to the party. I loved that game and I spent hundreds of hours modding it and exploring the world. However, at some point, I decided to check out Morrowind and Oblivion. I got Morrowind first on GOG because it was cheaper and I wanted to experiment with multiple installs. I didn't get into it at first because it was kind of dated and I modded it with MGSO (bad idea, I know). Then I got Oblivion and it clicked for me. Cyrodiil just felt like home and a place I can roleplay in. However, both games being voiced did mean that some quest mods feel off because it lacks voice acting (despite some quest mods being better than vanilla quests).

Last year, I decided to do a re-install and got Tamriel Rebuilt, Project:Cyrodiil, and SHOTN. For graphics, I used a few texture packs which I liked and got a good result from it. I also used OpenMW which really improved performance and stability- my game is now more stable than my Oblivion and Skyrim installs. My experience with Tamriel Rebuilt then was mostly sight-seeing while I did the quests on Vvardenfell and beat the Redoran questline and Main Quest. While I did that, Morrowind rose higher than Skyrim in my estimation, but it still wasn't my favorite. Actually playing TR made it my favorite. The quests blend seamlessly and some questlines are even better than vanilla- I don't think I've found content that isn't at par with or better than vanilla. Honestly, the modding community for Morrowind is incredible and while I like to keep my modlist lite nowadays, I do get excited to check out what new stuff is out there.

I'm really glad I gave this game a go because it really had an alien, otherworldly charm despite some clunky mechanics (which doesn't really bother me anymore). Plus, I liked how the themes of politics and religion were explored in a much deeper way here and I wish TES6 would have something like that. Morrowind, Oblivion, and Skyrim are all games I can roleplay in and 'live in' but only Morrowind really made me want to play through faction questlines and poke around to see what interesting stories I can see. Also this is kind of a minor point but I do like how cities in this game actually feel like cities and not villages or small towns. I kind of get the people who get kind of elitist about Morrowind now. It's really a very special game.

TL;DR: Started with Skyrim, loved it, then Morrowind and Oblivion. Morrowind didn't click at first, but hours of playing through questlines and TR later, it did and it's now my favorite.

Going to play Morrowind again and I need a shove in the right direction. (mod help)

    Posted: 24 Apr 2020 02:20 AM PDT

Okay so I read that we don't recommend the MGSO because it's not supported anymore but the main link under the "How to install mods section" brings me to a video where around the end of the video he installs MGSO.

I need to know which list of mods I should install. I'm looking for the full lore friendly modded experience.

What is Tamriel rebuilt and what is Project Tamriel ? Can they be used together?

A while back I heard of a mod that allows you to Join the sixth house, is that mod supported and recommended ?

All in all im looking for the biggest (stable) modded experience which include graphics/quality of life/New quests/New items/Best Morrowind Exp.

Ive played through and beaten morrowind before, multiple times, but ive never used mods other than MGSO.

thank you in advance for your time outlander.

Edit: Im firstly following the essentials guide to set up my game.

    Taking Souvenirs

    Posted: 23 Apr 2020 02:11 PM PDT

Hello , i wanted to ask , am i the only one who takes items at the start of the game and keeps them till the end ? in morrowind i kept the dagger you get at the beginning of the game ,in oblivion i took a bone from the prison cell, in skyrim i kept an iron helmet , its like a trinket to remind me of my journey , am i the only one who does this?

Does anyone else associate the opening door sound effect only with this game?

    Posted: 23 Apr 2020 08:06 PM PDT

It's a common sound effect that you hear everywhere, but the first time I've ever heard it was in Morrowind when I was very young. But I've also heard it in countless movies and TV shows, and for my whole life, every single time I hear it, I always think of Morrowind. I'm watching Malcolm X right now (which came out 10 years before Morrowind) and it literally uses that sound effect two times within ten seconds. I'm just wondering if I'm the only one.

Friend says: "Morrowind is so dark and... depressing. I'd rather play Skyrim."

    Posted: 23 Apr 2020 03:21 AM PDT

I thought this was an interesting argument. We usually associate Skyrim players as "newbs" that just simply don't understand Morrowind aesthetics. But, this is different.

What are your thought on Morrowind's landscape being "depressing" compared to Skyrim's? Does playing a negative game or a positive game affect your decision making?

Note that this doesn't refer to graphics quality - it is referring to immersion styles of landscape, scenery and overall color of the environment.

    Help with Openmw.

    Posted: 23 Apr 2020 11:09 PM PDT

A few days ago I downloaded Openmw for android and everything was fine, but sometimes I have fps drops, I don't know what to do to make the game run smoothly.

I have a Samsung galaxy S8 + and I don't understand how Morrowind used to run better on my old PC, which was a potato, it had worse specifications than my cell phone.

Someone who will install Project Atlas but don't know how to install it.

    question about hand-to-hand

    Posted: 23 Apr 2020 06:30 PM PDT

New to Morrowind and I'm planning on doing an unarmored hand-to-hand character. From what I've heard redguards are best for fatigue, but khajiit and imperials have a +5 hand-to-hand bonus. Is the bonus a needed boost or would it be better to go redguard?
