Playing Morrowind for first time in at least 12 years. So far the experience is just as I remember it from when I was a kid, I restarted a billions times and get my ass kicked. This is the build I am officially going with :)

Thinking it’s time to hop into Morrowind again after I’ve finished my exams, and I want some help with making my build.

    Posted: 08 Sep 2020 02:51 AM PDT

I'm thinking of going with an honourable Redoran samurai type character, but I haven't gotten much further than that. Probably going to use crossbows, but I'm not sure which melee skills would complement that. Spears for range? Blunt for utility? I'm also not sure whether to use magic or not, as I remember it being a lot of fun, but I don't know if I want to deal with no Magicka regen again. Which race would be good for an 'honour above all else' rp? I'm thinking dunmer, but they've been dun (hehe) to death, so another race could be fun. Any suggestions?

    Moving landmass mod.

    Posted: 08 Sep 2020 02:20 AM PDT

Hi everyone, I recently stumbled upon this magnificent looking mod: http://mw.modhistory.com/download-68-5954

The issue is that it seems to add a small landmass that ends up conflicting with Tamriel Rebuilt, and we don't want that, do we ? I've heard of a few ways to move landmasses so they don't conflict with each other, but it seems pretty complicated and I don't quite get it... Could anyone enlighten me ?

PS: If anyone happens to have a version of this mod with the moved landmass, it'd be great too!

Some questions about Morrowind before I buy the game

    Posted: 07 Sep 2020 04:40 PM PDT

So, I was thinking about buying Morrowind because I have over 100 hours on Skyrim and Oblivion and I thought that they were fantastic. I was thinking about buying Morrowind after I learned that it was backwards compatible on the 360. So here are some questions that I want to know before buying the game

    1. Is the main quest line good? - I love games that have a great narrative with a complex story and have great and captivating characters, and The Witcher 3 excelled at that which is why it is my favorite game of all time. Is Morrowind like this because unfortunately Oblivion and Skyrim failed to have a main story like that. So I wonder if Morrowind has it

    2. Are the guild quests good? - I have to ask this because the guilds are what make the elder scrolls games unique, and Skyrim had ok guild quests except maybe dark brotherhood, and Oblivion had pretty good guild quests but it could be improved upon. So are the guilds in Morrowind different or in any way good?

    3. Is the combat good? - Skyrim has some pretty good combat with the way each hand counts as a weapon and caused for a lot of combinations and variation. Oblivion didn't have much of that and was much more simplistic and I hated it, it was pretty bad, so I'm hoping the combat is good

The original inspiration for Vvardenfell term? Llandderfel, Gwynedd, Wales.

The original inspiration for Vvardenfell term? Llandderfel, Gwynedd, Wales.

    https://preview.redd.it/qle3is2fyql51.jpg?width=759&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7a71f4796cef00b3bac0818b208e9c21e8532b35

    Llandderfel on Wikipedia.

Could be pure chance, but a triple coincidence... what seems unlikely:

-Firstly the peculiarity (but still within the probable) of the totally coincident structure "*a*de*fel",

-Secondly the fact that all changes in Vvardenfell seems to respect the same kind of phonetic structure: Double consonant at start with a single phoneme ponunciation (some kind of labial consonant for Vv, the welsh hl/ or 'l for Ll) and two "sonorants" consonants (r, n) between a vowell and another consonant.

-Finally the extreme coincidence in the changed consonants that seems to follow directly the welsh place name example even for the changes: The "n" and "r" are simply swapped in their positions after the "a" and the first "e" and the "d/dd" and final "l/ll" are swapped in which one include the double form.

Also another great coincidence: There is a Bethesda town, only 40 Km North of Llandderfel. There are a small number of settlements in the world named Bethesda, so the presence of a Bethesda town close to our "Llandderfel" isn't a confirmation... but it's more than curious.

Also a bit off topic, the welsh peculiar pronunciation for Ll is something similar to what could sound ... "Hl". There are two possibilities for dunmer "hl" on Hlaalu or Hlormaren: A simple aspiration before l or a kind of single sound as something very similar (but softer) than welsh Ll: An air flow trying to pass through the tongue, while it's in the initial position to pronounce an "l" with the tip on the palate".

Edit: I forget to mention that Vvardenfell is an exception among other (supposed) dwemeris place names. Vvardenfell and Volenfell don't fit in the general phonetic and morphological structure of dwarven ruins.

    This game..

    Posted: 07 Sep 2020 09:53 AM PDT

I just want to express my feelings towards this game, so here i go.

Recently i wanted to try morrowind, but the graphics looked a bit weird to me so i decided to mod the game a bit and surprise i started playing and i love ce this game so much right now but i have to say that my favourite thing is how quests work and the journal. Im not very far into the game (i just arrived in Balmora and joined the mages guild, since im playing as a mage) but i already love it so much.(i hope mages arent op) I cant believe how good a game that is younger than me with 1 year can be so good!

Also i want to thank user Danae123 for the list he/she made. click here for the list

    OpenMW Nightly Builds

    Posted: 07 Sep 2020 04:50 PM PDT

I asked this on the OpenMW reddit too, but I've not heard anything yet. Does anyone know where the nightly builds for OpenMW Mac can be found now? I was using downloads.openmw.org, but there are not any nightly builds there anymore.

The Tribunal Temple 3E 427 - Finances, Rates, Collecting and Distributing of Tithes, and other features of the religious-economic order?

    Posted: 07 Sep 2020 10:34 AM PDT

For my mod, I was wondering if some of the lorebeards here could help me regarding the set-up of Temple Finances (in Vvardenfell, Morrowind, 3E 427)? I only thing that is really said in-game is that the Temple is a place for Dunmers to give donations.

    1. Are Temple finances mainly locally or centrally focused - e.g. Does the donation money collected at Gnisis and the West Gash area get spent in said region? Or else, are local donated to, and then distributed by, the Patriarch's office in Vivec?
    2. Do the faithful of the Temple have to pay an annual tithe? If so, is this a) For the general population, or those of a certain trade and or status? b) is this voluntary or compulsory?
    3. If tithes/donations are to be sent centrally to Vivec, who is tasked with doing so?

    Many Thanks,
    TribunalTastic
