I usually play white noise to get my son to go to sleep. Tonight I tried something different, Jeremy Soule's soundtrack for Morrowind lulled my son right to sleep.

Can there be a pinned thread for sharing character builds and backstorys?

I've seen a couple of those post so it seems like it's a fairly popular thing, a pinned thread for that would be a pretty cool way to share ones characters.

For the first time I’m not struggling in this game

    Posted: 17 Jun 2020 08:20 PM PDT

I've been a huge Elder Scrolls fan since Skyrim. I've absolutely loved Morrowind for years though because of its aesthetic and world building but it was always difficult for me to get very far into the game because I found myself getting fucked around every turn.

Until...I made my Breton Healer, Analise Alarie. A woman from High Rock who was sent to prison for poisoning a corrupt Imperial noble.

She specializes in alchemy, restoration magic, and blunt weapons. Her highest attribute is personality so everyone fawns over me which is hilarious because every character I've played beforehand was the subject of scorn wherever they went. I also specialized in destruction magic and mysticism and rolled with the Lady sign.

I've been doing the Imperial Cult and Legion quests. While on a quest to retrieve a silver staff for the cult I stumbled across a cave. I've found that the boots of blinding speed definitely add a hit chance increase because I slammed through everyone with my dwarven warhammer with ease lol. Then I found the back of the cave with an area I could only access by levitating. To my surprise there's more enemies, and somehow I survived the battle with a tiny sliver of HP left. A fucking miracle, my heart was pounding. Checked the body and this dude has the Staff of Magnus. It's not the silver staff I was looking for but god damn am I pleased.

Also killed some Telvanni dude in Gnisis beforehand who refused to release this prisoner. Didn't have any unlock spells or high enough security to get her out I just yeeted him. Now I have a cool ass home besides Addamasartus. Apparently killing him will lock me out of quests though, not sure how big of a deal that will end up being lol...

I plan on joining House Redoran eventually after I finish up the Oracle quests and the Legion ones.

Just finished the Crimson Plague quest in Tribunal. My god I had forgotten how powerful her destruction attacks were! I guess Bethesda put her in a side quest so players don't even have to deal with her unless they have a death wish.

Is Open MW the best way to play Morrowind now as a brand new player?

    Posted: 17 Jun 2020 01:21 PM PDT

I don't have any experience with the game or modding it(only Skyrim modding experience), is open MW the easiest and best way to play modded Morrowind?

(I'm new here, pls be gentle)

    Best housing mod?

    Posted: 17 Jun 2020 07:06 PM PDT

I'm looking for a mod which, ideally, would allow me to set up a house in any location of my choosing. I understand the technical limitations of an 18 year old game might make this difficult, so I have no problem settling instead for a mod which places empty houses that I can purchase/acquire via questing. I would like to be able to customize these houses and manually place the furniture and containers, rather than buying predetermined furniture packs a la Skyrim: Hearthfire. Morrowind Crafting seemed like a PERFECT mod, but it hasn't been touched in 6 years and I wasn't sure if another mod had improved upon its premise in that time, or if it was even still compatible with more modern mods.

    Zephh's Guide to Super Potions

    Posted: 17 Jun 2020 06:31 AM PDT

Alright so it seems that Morrowind still has new players who haven't had the pleasure of completely breaking the game by chugging a Fortify Speed 564193 for 994752 seconds. Since I personally find this very entertaining to do and abuse the Alchemy like my life depends on it, I decided to write up this short guide how to achieve a literal godhood by simply making some potions.

    WHAT ARE YOU GONNA NEED:

    • A set of either Master Apparatus or Grandmaster Apparatus (mortar, alembic, calcinator, retort). You can acquire a full set of these very easily, so I won't go much further on how to acquire these
    • A place where you can store lots of alchemy ingredients and potions (I personally use a house mod that I made for myself). I reckon you don't want to store all the stuff on yourself at all times
    • A decent sum of gold. Late game gold should not be a problem to anyone, but for players who want to go with this exploit early game I suggest going for around 20k to 30k of gold.
    • Alchemy skill at about 60. This will let you see all four effects on an ingredient. Not really necessary, but helpful if you're not really sure what you're doing (yet).

Also I highly advise anyone getting into alchemy in general to take every piece of alchemy ingredient you come across. Surely you can buy them later from restocking vendors, but if you are starting a new playthrough, why not, right? You'll save yourself some time and gold later on.

    MAKING PREPARATIONS:

So first thing you want to stock yourself on these ingredients: Ash Yam, Bloat, Corkblub Root and Guar Hide. These are essential in order to craft the two most necessary potions: Fortify Intelligence and Fortify Luck. I advise you to also gather other ingredients and keep them close, so you can make potions of them at a moment's notice.

    CRAFTING SUPERPOTIONS:

First step is to raise your Intelligence and Luck to as high as possible. What you're going to do here is to make Fortify Intelligence (Ash Yam and Bloat) and Fortify Luck (Corkbulb Root and Guar Hide) potions. The way I go on about this is to make a set of like 10 or 15 potions. Then you open your inventory, apply all these potions on yourself, close your inventory and let the potions take an effect and then quickly open your inventory again and repeat the process. You will notice that stacking the potion effects like this, more or less, make them exponentially more potent (ofcourse, if your Alchemy and base Intelligence and Luck stats are not maxed out, it will take a bit longer).

tl;dr - make some fortify intelligence and fortify luck potions, use them, make some more potions, use them and make more potions and use them again

But, before you raise these attributes to hundreds of thousands you should consider the following: certain potions are not to be crafted while your Intelligence and Luck are super high, because the potion magnitude and duration will become so strong and long, they will most likely break your game. Among these potions are, for example, Fortify Strength, Fortify Speed, Swift Swim and Water Walking. I advise you to make these potions when your attributes are fortified to about 300-500. You can get a pretty useful magnitude and duration on your potions from that, without being scared that a single step will teleport you outside of the playable landmass (this has actually happened to me before).

Potions that can be crafted at high Intelligence/Luck levels are: Shield, Resist, Detect, Restore and Feather.

ZEPHH'S LIST OF SUPER BALLER POTION RECIPES:

In this segment I'm gonna be listing a few potion recipes of my own, which usually sport atleast 3 effects, which are very, very, very, VERY useful when crafted as superpotions. They should work in any order you put the ingredients in, but you might as well put them inside the Alchemy dialogue boxes in the order they are listed from left to right.

I'm not going to list recipes for potions like Feather or Water Breathing here, since I want to give you the space to figure the recipes for those potions on your own.

    ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Please be aware that exploiting Alchemy in this fashion and using super powerful potions can permanently raise your attributes and give you permanent potion effects with incredibly high magnitude.

(This has happened to me a couple of weeks ago and I had to use console commands to restore my attributes to normal and remove effects like Night Eye).

Once again I'll be happy to answer any further questions or have a discussion on how broken this is.
