My fondest memory of Morrowind is it's technical issues

    Posted: 17 May 2020 12:09 AM PDT

I played Morrowind in 2002 on my (I think) 700Mhz CPU. The Game ran like trash. I had to constantly look on the ground while running and never turn around to keep my FPS above 10 Frames. If I remember correctly Morrowind only renders anything in front of you - and if you turn around your machine gotta work. In today's world it would be deemed unplayable. But it's one of my fondest memories of a simpler time in gaming. The game performed like trash for me and I never cared. I was 9 and I loved it.

Anyone else feel like the conjured weapons are OP?

    Posted: 16 May 2020 05:50 PM PDT

Seriously I didn't know these existed until I killed some NPC that had a weapon that could conjure them. I pretty much 1 hit killed everything in the game once I figured out how to cast the weapon...

    Foreman Beram at Tel Vos

    Posted: 16 May 2020 01:19 PM PDT

Remember Beram, the foreman of the construction crew at the Tel Vos dungeons? He left a series of notes in the dungeons under the Tel Vos jail detailing his effprts in constructing a dungeon for Aryon, and the demise of his men. Beram's last note is near some lava pools with a fire atronach, and says only "He is here!".

Who do you guys think "he" was? I always thought it might have been that atronach, but Beram does not seem to have known or expected the atronach to be there, and I have not seen atronachs show any sort of Dagoth-like psychic abilities that could have given Beram visions. "He is here!" sounds like Beram knew who "he" was, was terrified at the sight of "him", and did not expect to see "him" there. None of that sounds like a random fire atronach.

    Posted: 16 May 2020 06:41 PM PDT

So I played this game a bit on a computer before switching to my Xbox because my pc broke, and I can't seem to find the quest list in the journal. Is there an option for it or something so I can get to it? Thanks in advance

Blind Let's Play Morrowind - Delivering The Flin To Dangor!

Recreating a Morrowind installation on a new PC (almost no mods--simple in theory?)

    Posted: 16 May 2020 11:01 AM PDT

    Background

My current Morrowind installation dates back to about 2013, some alterations made in 2015. I'm giving you these dates, as I can see from the sidebar that the modding scene has changed somewhat in recent years.

At the time, I kept my mods as minimal as possible because I prefer Vanilla Morrowind. However, I wanted to ensure my game saves were safe and the game was stable.

    Therefore, I believe I installed:

    • The base game and expansions from the original retail CD versions
    • All official Bethesda expansions and plug-ins
    • Morrowind FPS optimizer v.1.96
    • Morrowind Code Patch (Version 2.1)
    • Wrye Mash standalone version 86 (i.e. Mopy?/Yacoby's Wrye Mash Fork?)

The way the game functions on my Windows 7 installation, I just run FPS optimizer and don't touch anything else. I believe Wrye Mash was used for sorting my mod load order only.

I've since upgraded to Windows 10, and while I kept my Windows 7 installation intact, I'd like to recreate my Morrowind installation on Windows 10.

    Questions

Looking at the 2020 guide for installing mods, there's been a few changes. MCP is now on Version 2.4, not 2.1; FPS Optimizer is not listed as a program you need to install; there are several other patches that are recommended (e.g. Patch Purist and Morrowind Optimization Patch); and the recommended Wrye Mash version is a completely different fork (Polemos fork vs. Yacoby's that I used in the past).

I don't really have an interest in installing any mods beyond what I currently have. Therefore, my priority is just to get Morrowind working on Windows 10 with the same functionality as I had on Windows 7, and with complete compatibility for my existing save files.

    1. Do you know if installing different, updated versions of mods such as Morrowind Code Patch, Wrye Mash, etc. will cause any issues with my existing save files? Or should I be all right based on the dependencies listed above?

    2. What program has replaced Morrowind FPS Optimizer? (Which I was using only to support higher resolutions on modern monitors; I kept the other settings switched off, as you can see here ).

    3. With respect to the 2020 Mod Guide, would it be necessary to install everything listed in that guide considering my relatively modest needs?

    Any help is much appreciated.

    Strange tribunal feelings

Why do I have the strange feeling the tribunal expansion is meant for a heavy armor wearing, long sword wielding, mage Slayer?

    Hiya! Just starting out...

    Posted: 16 May 2020 10:49 AM PDT

Just got a gaming PC, and the first game I dl'd on steam was Morrowind.

I'm an avid ESO player, have put a few hundred hours into Skyrim, barely touched Oblivion and probably logged 2 hours in Morrowind for Xbox back in the day.

Would anyone be so kind as to either provide some beginner tips or guide me to a good resource? Feeling a bit overwhelmed but really like the lack of hand holding
