    Morrowind hmm...

    Morrowind hmm...

    hmm...

    Posted: 30 May 2020 12:58 PM PDT

Started exploring Morrowind again recently. I found this game in a Media Play when I was a kid.

    Posted: 30 May 2020 06:46 AM PDT

I've played through morrowind 4 times now and I only find this place now, when I say I was shocked, I mean I was shocked but not in a bad way , truly though its sad to see how much more pg the elder scrolls series has become over the years.

They clearly don't me enough for this shit.

Doing my first playthrough. What factions should I join?

    Posted: 31 May 2020 12:07 AM PDT

First off, WOW! I am so glad I spent hours trying to mod the game to be playable. I have it kept as vanilla as possible, I just have patches and a few graphics mods. I told myself I'd finish my current playthrough of Skyrim before starting Morrowind, but I can't put the game down!! There's so much to explore!!! I already love the game, I can see why it's still so popular. Thank you to this community and to modders out there for keeping this gem alive.

So I'm playing the game semi-blind, and I don't want to spoil questlines for myself. (I'm reading up on lore a bunch though). All that being said, what factions should I focus on? Am I limited in any way when it comes to joining/advancing through factions? I'm playing a Dunmer assassin, so naturally I joined the Thieves Guild. But then I spoke to the temple in Balmora and I wasn't sure about joining them, and I know that later on I have the option of joining the Imperial Legion too. Would it be difficult for me to be in too many factions? Is it even possible for me to join/progress through the Mages Guild without being a mage?

So my plan is finally close to an end and I need a bit of help with deciding. :)

    Posted: 30 May 2020 06:57 PM PDT

I live in Balmora. I'm a stealth based Khajiit, the only thing about me being not stealth would be one handed and block. I use these for strength farming and increasing my carry weight for more looting and thus, profit. I've been planning since the beginning to do every quest available in Balmora until I'm told to go to another city, and only then will I start the main quest. I wanted to investigate the dead guy and apparently, I already killed the murderer and honestly don't know who lol

While I went to pick up the reward, Nileno offered me to join the Hlaalo House. I'm aware that there are three in total. Should I start the MQ now or choose a house? I did a bit of investigating and have reason to believe that Hlaalo is the best house for stealth base characters. Is this true? The thing is that I also want interesting quests, not just the disappointing Thieve's Guild "fetch diamong, Sugar Lips needs". I know there are more in other cities, probably become very interesting. So, keeping spoiler-free (please), what would you guys do in my position?

I guess for the time being, I will finally start the MQ with shirtless Skooma Esbern and decide depending on your responses. Thanks, guys!

[Release] The Guar Whisperer: A guar taming/breeding/companion mod.

    Posted: 31 May 2020 01:28 AM PDT

Really really want to play this game finally after years of trying.

    Posted: 30 May 2020 11:02 PM PDT

Hey guys, sorry if this is the wrong sub to ask but I've been an avid elder scrolls gamer since oblivion and I really love the story's and lore building that the worlds have to offer but I've found that no matter how hard I try I just can't seem to get into morrowind. Maybe I've been spoiled over the years with flashy graphics and better tuned gameplay mechanics to really get into an older rpg like this. But I honestly really want to give this game a try after all these years because I've always felt the story was just better than the other games also the memes with the lore are top notch too. I was wondering if any of you had the same problems at first before finally falling in love with it and if so is there any types of mods or stuff that might help me with my problems. This is like the third time I've seriously tried to get into this game and it's just hard after about an hour or so, any help or suggestions would be great and please don't gut me for being a plebe, I really do love the allure of this game T.T

Morrowind mods not working even when installed manually

    Posted: 30 May 2020 10:35 PM PDT

I want to start a new playthrough of Morrowind, so I had a look at my load order. The problem is since that Vortex would only deploy/activate (whichever the correct term is) half of my mods. I tried reinstalling Morrowind which didn't work, so I tried removing the mods that were not working from the Vortex staging folder and installing them manually into the Morrowind Data folder, which didn't work either.

GUIDE: how to get amulets of fast travel in 30 minutes or less!

    Posted: 30 May 2020 12:58 PM PDT

Hello all! So I've spent a little while figuring out a route to very quickly get the Amulets of Mark, Recall, Almsivi Intervention, and Divine Intervention for your next playthrough. Apologies if this is old hat to you; hopefully someone will find some use for this guide.

    1. Get about a thousand gold from questing and looting in Seyda Neen. Stealing the Limeware Platter from the Census and Excise office, and cheesing the Death of a Taxman quest should set you up if you're in a hurry (find Processus Vitellius, then confront and kill Foryn Gilnith before talking to Socucius Ergalla).
    2. Take the silt strider to Balmora and pick up 'Chronicles of Nchuleft' from Dorisa Darvel the bookseller.
    3. Join the Mages' Guild, and teleport to Ald'Ruhn. (OPTIONAL: if you're proficient in Restoration, get a Resist Magicka spell from Sharn Gra-Muzgob and have Estirdalin make you a 100 points for 1 second version).
    4. Give the book to Edwinna Elberts, then buy a Scroll of Mark from Tanar Llervi, and use it here.
    5. Teleport to Sadrith Mora and talk to Skink-in-trees-shade and get the potion for Edwinna.
    6. Teleport to Caldera and raid their liquor cabinet for all their Mazte and Sujamma.
    7. Visit Verick Germain, buy a Ring of Aversion and the Amulet of Recall.
    8. Follow the road north out of town and find Pemenie (first right at the barbarian, then first left at the fork). Drink Mazte along the way to speed things up, as you're carrying a shit ton of booze.
    9. Escort Pemenie to Gnaar Mok (straight west, over the hills) and get the Boots of Blinding Speed, finish off your supply of Mazte along the way. Cast your Resist Magicka spell and equip the boots.
    10. Head straight southwest from Gnaar Mok and find the cave 'Shurinbaal'.
    11. Use the Ring of Aversion inside the cave, run past everyone and take the first right and swim up to the platform.
    12. Chug all your Sujamma, kill Galtis Serethi, and loot the Amulet of Mark.
    13. Escape using the Amulet of Recall, back to Edwinna, and give her the potion from Skink-in-trees-shade.
    14. Teleport to Vivec and steal the Chimarvamidium, use Recall back to Edwinna.
    15. Take the silt strider to Maar Gan, drop off the platform to your right onto the wall, then head down the path.
    16. Enter the hut, kill the scamp and get Huleen's key. Talk to the man downstairs, then Recall back to Edwinna.
    17. Teleport to Vivec again and return the Chimarvamidium, Recall back to Edwinna and she will give you two Amulets of Almsivi and Divine Intervention!

This should all be able to be accomplished in less than half an hour. Galtis Serethi and his imperial companion may give you some trouble, but with Tarhiel's sword and blind drunk on Sujamma you should make short work of them both. Galtis has 102 health and you want to kill him FAST, because his damn Viperbolts will kill you in one or two shots (unless you're resistant to Poison, hello Argonians and Redguards!). If you didn't pick Long Blade as a major skill for some reason, you may need to get creative:

Axe: get the axe in the treestump near the lighthouse in Seyda Neen, and chug that Sujamma.

Blunt Weapons: get the Warhammer of Wounds from Verick Germain and indulge in that sweet nectar, Sujamma.

Spear: get the Devil Spear from Ra'Virr in Balmora and, you guessed it, get black out drunk on Sujamma.

Short Blade: get the Demon Tanto from Ra'virr in Balmora. Also, pick up the Dwemer Jinksword from Wayn at the Balmora Fighter's Guild and an Iron Viperblade from Verick Germain in Caldera. Enjoy paralyzing, poisoning, and eviscerating your enemies in seconds with a few swift stabs. You'll kill both guys easily even while stone cold sober, but hey, you have all that Sujamma anyway. Now go join the Morag Tong, you sneaky assassin bastard.

Destruction: woe upon you. Have Estirdalin make you a high damage spell (not Fire), and if you are proficient with Illusion, use Paralyze first. Get a bunch of Fortify Willpower potions from the guild chests in Balmora and Sadrith Mora to increase your chances before casting.

Marksman: if you picked Marksman as your only damaging major skill, you are a glutton for punishment. I suppose you could get the Bound Longbow spell from Masalinie Merian in Balmora and the Shadowweave Ring from Irgola in Caldera, try to find a secluded spot of solid ground in the flooded cave, and hope for a sneak attack crit.

Otherwise, get some high damage scrolls and hope for the best. Drathis' Soulrot and Drathis' Winter Guest are preferable. You can get two Scrolls of Drathis' Winter Guest from Galbedir in Balmora, and the argonian enchanter (Miun-Gei) in Vivec's Foreign Quarter sells Scrolls of Drathis' Soulrot. Note that you can sneak up on Crottus Cedus while invisible and Intimidate him into not attacking you while you kill Galtis if you are proficient in Speechcraft.

That's it! Good luck and good powergaming!

How much gold should a farmhouse in the Ascadian Isles cost?

I can't buy them in-game but if I wanted to roleplay and just get rid of the gold and remove the npc with console commands, how much would be fair?

TIL there's an Imperial Cult altar in the Ald'ruhn Mage's Guild.

    Posted: 30 May 2020 10:52 AM PDT

Been in that building a million times and somehow never noticed. Didn't even cross my mind that there might be a Cult altar anywhere except a Legion fort, especially since Divine Intervention in that area takes you to Fort Buckmoth. No more trudging up the hill to the Temple to get a blessing and refill magicka, one stop shopping at the Mage's Guild.

Hardcore Edits for TES Advanced Mod Editor

    Posted: 30 May 2020 09:05 PM PDT

I am currently using TESAME 1.2 which mentions in the version notes that hardcore edits have been removed. I from time to time use a hex editor to edit entries in plugin and save files. and this "hardcore edit" feature sounds really nifty since otherwise I have to dodge and mediate a bunch of unnecessary formatting while trying to edit subitems (like removing specific dcou records). I use TESAME all the time for modding since automatic cleaners programs are so bad at catching global edits, accidental object moves, etc and for mod auditing. I previously used version 1.0 which does not have this feature so presumably 1.1 would. Does anyone know where TESAME 1.1 (or any version between 1.0 and 1.2) is located or how to re-enable the hardcore edit feature

Just finished Daggerfall. Now onto my first playthrough of Morrowind.

    Posted: 30 May 2020 05:21 AM PDT

Despite growing up with late 90s RPGs, I never got into TES. I always prefered turn-based systems and kinda discarded TES as action games with little RPG to them (and having only played Oblivion and Skyrim didn't really help overcoming this prejudice I guess). Well, couple of weeks ago I stumbled across the Daggerfall Unity project and thought - hey, why not give it a go.

Oh boy, did I sink into that game. I didn't even know that the old TES games had dice-rolls in combat! I just thought it's real time so every strike just hits. That's awesome! Building a character means something and putting points into something has tangible effects. I was wrong all those years, these games are RPGs after all. I was hooked from the very first dungeon. My first evening with the game turned into an all-nighter. I felt like 12 again, it was brilliant.

I finished the game last night and now I'm SUPER hyped to move onward to Morrowind.

Like I said, I don't really now anything about the game. I remember watching a friend play it on the Xbox back in 2003 and of course I now some TES lore from my limited time with Oblivion and Skyrim and now Daggerfall (man, that game has a TON of lore stuff to read) but I'm going into Morrowind mostly blind and want to keep it that way. No looking up perfect builds, no quest-guides, no "do x quest first to get overpowered y gear" tips, no extensive modding. Just enjoying the journey.

However, coming from Daggerfall I experienced that the nature of the relative open skill system tends to culminate into sooner or later becoming an all-powerfull meta-gaming supergod. In Daggerfall the scale tipped quite abruptly from 'oh shit, gotta save before every corner' to 'click once to insta-gib powerful daedra'. So IF you have any modding or build tips, I'd actually want to know how to make this game slower/harder.

Again, I want to play mostly vanilla for the first time, but if you now of any minimal mods/adjustments, that at least defer the moment I become a millionaire levitating werewolf ninja in enchanted daedric armor, I'd certainly appreciate it!

Maybe I'll post an update in a couple of days, retelling my first steps into the game and comparing it to my experience with Daggerfall if anyone is interested in something like that. :)

tl;dr: Never got into Morrowind, but recently played Daggerfall and loved it. Hyped for this journey, but afraid that late game will suffer from the same power-spiral that Daggerfall did.

    LGNPC Still active?

    Posted: 30 May 2020 03:10 PM PDT

Is the Less Generic NPC Mod community still active? I recently downloaded their package and love it, however on their site it seems to have not been updated in a decade and I am curious as to whether it is still an active modding community. Many cities and areas have yet to recieve their "treatment" and it can be a bit jarring when you get used to their varied and interesting takes on the different NPCs of the game.

If anyone has any info itd be very appreciated.
