Hrisskar, and Morrowind's Brilliant World Building

    Posted: 23 Jan 2020 11:07 PM PST

So I--like many of you--have made a new character (Beggar Assassin), and I noticed something that I've not noticed since the game launched: Hrisskar is more than a little in debt due to gambling. From the tutorial area, we often pick up--but not often read--about how due to a lost wager, Hrisskar must sharpen the dagger to quite the honed edge.

Obviously, like all good members of Morrowind society, we return Farogth's ring to him. Visiting Auriel'e Trade House with out new found disposition, if we speak with the good man (despite his elven heritage), we learn that Hrisskar is well in debt--in no small part to "bad wagers".

We can of course speak with Hrisskar--whether we possess this knowledge or not--and pick up a quest to observe and collect. What's so brilliant about this, is how much the game tells us about this character, without looking at the camera and giving us some manner of dialogue. It's right there, in the relative open for those who notice. It sort of blows my mind, in all the hundred and potentially thousands of hours I've played, and I've only this hour(s) ago noticed this.

When you spend 7k gold buying slaves to free them and they start acting like nothing happened, no hugs, no beers, just acting like it happens every week... well let's talk about my "back in time" spell called "quick save".

    Help with designing a build

    Posted: 24 Jan 2020 12:08 AM PST

I want to play a game where I Roleplay as a Daedra hunter, how would I go about this? What skills should I invest in and what quests should I seek out?

    “Witcher” custom class?

    Posted: 23 Jan 2020 10:51 AM PST

Just think this would be a cool role play. How would you do the build?

I was thinking Breton since the Magicka resist/boost is similar to Witcher mutations.

Long Blade, Light Armor, Athletics, Alchemy, Destruction (Igni), Alteration (Shield/Quen), Illusion (Charm/Axii), Marksman (crossbow)...

There's a thread on this from 4 years ago but wanted to get some new opinions.

Also any recommended mods for a play through like this?

Will we ever get working Diagonal Animations in MW?

    Posted: 23 Jan 2020 03:47 PM PST

Its pretty much this, Oblivion and Fallout 3/NV got their own with the source code shared for everyone.

its possible to implement this in MW using MWSE(like the original mod for Oblivion and Fallout) or OpenMW?

    Should I get Morrowind?

    Posted: 23 Jan 2020 05:51 PM PST

I also asked this on r/elderscrolls but this sub seems better, anyways steam is having a big sale and I want to get it but idk of I'll enjoy it or not.

My reasons are (although they're nitpicky) -

Bad graphics, normally I only care for a good story and gameplay, but really bad and outdated graphics can turn me away.

No fast travel - this isnt to bothering for me but I feel I'd get lost pretty easy and would get bored.

No quest markers (another not to bothersome one) - idk how descriptive the games quest logs are but if I cant find where to go and need to use a guide I feel like I'm cheating and stuff, but I played games like KOTOR 1 and 2 and beat them just fine but the worlds werent as massive.

Gameplay - idk how out of date the gameplay is but if its absolutely horrible it'll be a turn off for me but if they're bearable it'll be fine.

    Thanks!

My personal touch to the Royal Guard armor. Probably my most favorite armor of all ES games.

New player here with just two questions

    Posted: 23 Jan 2020 11:52 AM PST

I guess you have this thread every week but yeah, didn't find it so...

Skyrim player here who is going to buy the full Morrowind series (if I'm not mistaken, the GOTY edition has all the extra content). Before doing it I would like to know two things:

    1. Which are the MUST mods? For example in Skyrim for me the MUST mods are the unofficial patch, OneTweak, Better Dialogue Controls and minor graphic mods

    2. How efficient is a godlike build on Morrowind? For example, in Skyrim you can go a full Battlemage with all combat and magic skills at the same time but without smithing or enchanting you are f****, because you haven't enough of everything due of the massive perk spread. Is this the same way on Morrowind? Because I would like a Nerevarine build (Battlemage) but I have 0 idea of the leveling system, and I don't want to create a weak character and being forced to start again

Anyone had any issues with attacks not landing regardless of skill?

    Posted: 23 Jan 2020 07:01 AM PST

So before I start, I am a long time Morrowind player so I am aware skill and fatigue play a part but for some reason, on my current play none of my attacks hit. I had skill 55, thinking maybe I was just hitting badly I cheated and upped it to 100 but still, attacks are not landing. I have absolutely no magical items except for a magic sword that I changed out for a non-enchanted to test, and still no attacks are landing. And yes I spent a while attacking an enemy, nothing hits.

I'm perplexed. I've tried looking at my mods, but nothing seems to be related to attacking. Also NPCs do not have the same issue, I've found. As well it's just my shortblade skill that is affected. I don't understand what's wrong. Anyone have any ideas?

Additionally, I've looked carefully and I have no negative effects to my attributes or skills.

Started Morrowind for the first time | Need some serious hand holding | Combat is awful

    Posted: 23 Jan 2020 06:29 AM PST

I've played Oblivion, Skyrim and Elder Scrolls Online. I enjoy ESO the best

Also, I know some fans get angry at people who say the combat sucks in Morrowind, but I'm not trying to bash on the game or hate on anyone for liking it.

Hello. I started Morrowind for the first time in a long, long time, but the combat system is pretty much making me want to quit the game (AGAIN). It's just extremely awful. Don't get me wrong, I would love to be able to play the game but it gets difficult to play when you see majority of your attacks miss. I looked at some YouTube videos recently which break down the combat system in the game. However, I'm still a bit lost. I've played a few dice roll games before. Games like RuneScape 3 and Old School RuneScape. As I said, I am in serious need of "hand holding" xP because this is the 5th time starting this game and I'm on the verge of quitting yet again. I've made an account which specialises in Longblade. So my Longblade stat is 50, my agility is 50 and my luck (I think) is 40. What I did to test this was put on God mode through the console command and fight some guards. Relax, it was just for testing purposes to see my hit-chance. It was pretty awful :/ So please, help me. I'll really appreciate it.
