AITA for ignoring my friends dying wish to not use an artefact to become a God alongside our other friends. Thus angering a real God?

    Posted: 02 Jan 2020 03:04 PM PST

Context: I (M) and my friends (F) and (MF) used some divine tools we recently acquired on the heart of a dead God to ascend to Godhood. Our other friends (Both M) passed away recently during a battle to gain possession of the heart was being held by the leader of an enemy clan that was attempting to use the heart o make their own Gods, which one of my dead friends opposed. The battle caused an entire race to vanish and both of my friends died. In his dying words he told our friend (MF) to never use the heart to become Gods but we did it anyway. Afterwards a real God came down, who we also promised not to use the heart to. I insulted her and she then cursed out people to have grey skin and red eyes. We're planning on lying about how we became gods and what the curse is to the people. So Reddit AITA?

Is there Any Point To Clothing For Armored Characters?

    Posted: 02 Jan 2020 11:26 PM PST

Title. Are there any negative effects for having no clothes on when wearing a suit of armor? Seems like an awful bit of waste to me to wear clothes under my full steel armor set.

    Tips for new player?

    Posted: 02 Jan 2020 04:57 PM PST

I tried morrowind once like 5 years ago, and I want to give it a second shot, but I am not sure where to start.

First mods. I've seen a lot of old lists. What would you recommend for a first play through? The thing that stopped my first playthrough was honestly all the unreadable text and bad ui. So any fixes for that would be great!

Second I'm having trouble picking my character. In oblivion and skyrim imperials are my favorite race, but I've heard that the story makes more sense if your a dark elf. But also I think it makes more sense to not be a dark elf since your learning about the world. I can see the value in both choicds, Any tips for which to pick?

Also, I normally like playing mages in games, but I've heard magic isnt very good for beginners in morrowind. Is this true? Would a warrior mage hybrid work?

I found the movement speed slow the first time. Would you recommend hacking it up or just learning to get used to it, and slowly get faster as I level?

    Any other tips?

    Screenshot Issues

    Posted: 02 Jan 2020 08:26 PM PST

I originally installed Morrowind through the Bethesda launcher when it was temporarily free on the Elder Scrolls's 25th anniversary (and downloaded the official mods for the game separately) but didn't really touch it much due to me being busy with college. I figured that I could get back to playing the game in the new decade, and I started it up this night to play, remembering my initial positive first impression. I started up my new character and exited the Seyda Neen Census and Excise Office and was about to take a screenshot of my character as a way to kind of symbolize the beginning of my time playing. There was only one problem: I couldn't. As in, the game wouldn't let me use the "PrtSc" key on my laptop's keyboard.

It gave me a message that I originally thought was self explanatory, to set the "Screen Shot Enable" setting in the Morrowind ini file to "1." Sounds simple enough right? It wasn't. I easily found the ini configuration file and changed the setting to 1 and saved. That's not my problem. My problem is that when I went back in to test whether it worked or not, the same exact message popped up again.

After a while of testing, I finally figured out what was going wrong. See, I'm playing Morrowind using the Morrowind Code Patch, which I found out about while searching UESP, a resource that has helped my greatly when I played Oblivion and Skyrim previously. When you use the Code Patch, it creates a new version of the game while leaving the original as its own application, labeled "Morrowind.Original." When I opened up the original application (which didn't utilize the game's launcher) and tried out whether "PrtSc" was functional, I discovered that it worker perfectly.

I only really have one other program for Morrowind in use, the Morrowind Mod Organizer, a version of the mod organizer that you can find on Nexus Mods. Since I set the organizer to restrict saves to the profiles they were made in, I just took a screenshot of the title screen.

So, I was wondering of there was any way for me to enable screenshots on my Code Patched version of Morrowind through the ini file, as I really don't want to have to download much else for my first true playthrough of this awesome game and don't want to play Morrowind just using its final base patch. Any suggestions?

Very strange Bug(?) with Wise Woman

    Posted: 02 Jan 2020 12:39 PM PST

Idk if a game from 17 years ago requires spoiler warnings, but this post isn't really a spoiler, I just experienced some crazy bug type thing while helping out the Ahemussa tribe.

I was had just finished clearing out the shrine of Sheogorath and was about to escort the wise woman there when I attempted to cross the water to the first island. Suddenly the fight music began as I entered the water and from out of nowhere the wise woman casts some sort of water walking / fortify speed spell and scares the fish? Which caused her to sprint off like a bullet out on the horizon while I'm sat wide eyed and terrified that I'm about to receive the main quest character killed message. I was actually about to make a post asking what the heck happened, because the fight music had ended and the wise woman had not returned. But then the light flicked in my mind and I decided to try and aggro a nearer slaughterfish, when a 'Hyurr' appeared at the bottom of the screen and there she is again, sprinting at one thousand miles an hour across the water towards me. I killed the slaughterfish and the wise woman is back by my side, for now at least...

    Newbie here !

Nice to join you everyone! I took advantage of the Winter Sales on Steam getting Morrowind GOTY. Beside the TES general formula, i love old school graphics so i want to give a try. But before trying it , I really want to know what does this game means to you, if you first-played it long time ago or recently and what kind of vote you would give to it (considering it's a 2002 games) ? [About Modding advices i'll make another post]

Is it possible to rollback the main quest using console commands?

    Posted: 02 Jan 2020 01:23 PM PST

Disclaimer: This is a heavily modded play though I'm talking about, so I'm not afraid to bend or break the rules of Morrowind's universe through modding or commands.

So I'm about to throw down with Dagoth Gares, PC around level 7, when I decide I need (want) some help on my quest to become the Nerevarine. While the companion followers from MCA are fine albeit devoid of personailty, I decided that the most fun option would be to pick up the "Julan, Ashlander" mod because it sounds rad (and who better to be a Nerevarine adjacent hero than a true Velothi).

Unfortuanely, I am TWO quests too far into the Main Questline to get Julan to follow me. The dialog window warns me that I have progressed too far, and it is impossible for Julan to follow me.

Can I rollback the journal using the " Journal, "QuestID", QuestStage " command and just do these two quests again after picking up Julan? And if so, how do I find the QuestStage identifier to reset the quests to zero? Is this even possible?

    Thanks in advance!

LGNPC Pelagiad Shop Assistant Quest Bugged (Stocktaking)

    Posted: 02 Jan 2020 11:19 AM PST

I'm using the mod "LGNPC Pelagiad" and one of Mebestian Ence's quests is bugged: the one where you have to take stock of the store's inventory. I can't progress. I have no idea what to do. There are no extra dialog options after I started this quest. Nothing.

I Need Help With My Build

    Posted: 02 Jan 2020 10:50 AM PST

TL,DR: My questions are at the end of the post

So I'm gonna go with heavy armor, and possibly mix in some unarmored to keep weight low and aesthetics high.

I'm not sure I'll use spells. If I do, it'll be Mark/Recall from mysticism. My "magic" will be alchemy and enchanting, since I wanna be more of a warrior than a spell caster (I've always played the spellcaster route and wanna try something new).

I'm stuck on weapon choice and block. Here's my questions:

    1) Is it worth using a shield in this game? If not, I won't take block and ill go with a 2h weapon skill. If they are, then I'll be using the block skill + a 1h weapon skill.

    2) If I end up using a shield, what's the best way to go for 1h weapons? The best 2h weapon is easily a daedric daikatana with damage health and paralyze enchantments. With that, you kill everything in a couple hits or less and no enemies can even fight back. Wondering if a 1h weapon could achieve something similar.
