That feeling when you have two hours left on work before you can run home and play Morrowind Posted: 06 Jun 2020 05:55 PM PDT Currently playing a Khajiit Knight named Ling ( after my cat) she is the epitome of grace and etiquette. Working my way up the legion with Medium Armor, an Axe and a silver tongue. [link] [comments]
Posted: 06 Jun 2020 02:37 PM PDT While some might complain about the outdated dice roll combat mechanics... there's something INCREDIBLY satisfying about the journey of achieving godhood status from LITERALLY starting out weaker than the local Village crabs. With Morrowind's super fun and creative spell making / enchanting, as well as rare powerful weapons / armor actually being rare, instead of leveled like later games makes finding them & achieving that Godhood status even more rewarding. You start out a nobody, you really are a nobody till you start making a name for yourself... Rather than starting out a prisoner & two seconds later you're a legendary dragon born every guard in every town somehow knows about. You really do start out feeling like a nobody prisoner... no pressing destiny. No portals of hell or dragons to 'urgently' take care of... just a common prisoner. Not a legendary hero... (yet). Just a stranger in a strange land. I find that charming... And even if the beginning is a little slow. I find it makes a journey even more rewarding. I find the Slow beginning charming. Posted: 06 Jun 2020 12:37 PM PDT Just finished with the ashlands and the Ashlander Neverarine prohpecy quest. I've been getting that feeling for a while, that same nagging feeling that I got on my very first playthrough of Skyrim, one I've been chasing for a while with games like Disco Elysium or Underrail. Where the hell am I now? There's so much variety and care in the environments that they just let you wander off without a care in the world, drawing you in completely. When you snap out of your wander-daze and realize you're 100 miles away from everything and have to figure out your way back, or accidentally wander into a Daderic ruin/Sixth House fortress is an amazing feeling. Falasmaryon was a freaking drug trip, finding it in the fog when looking for the Ashlander burial ground and getting ganked by a building full of naked screaming cultists is hands down one of my best gaming experiences to date. Just wanted to say how much I appreciate this feeling of discovery in a time when I haven't left the house for like 3 months. I'm also glad that I finally decided to bite the bullet and jump in despite the clunky gameplay (...the increased accuracy mod isn't too heretical is it?) and realize that this is hands down on par with Skyrim. The presentation might be much less polished but the art direction is phenomenal and equally as immersive. Anyone else got some "This is the best" moments? [link] [comments]

Reignited the game again for myself Posted: 06 Jun 2020 04:05 PM PDT I always had Morrowind as my favourite game, occasionally replaying it every year or two. Somehow I just feel the need to sometimes return "home" to Vvanderfell: silt strider sounds, heart-warming "we are watching you, scum", all this stuff. Last times, however, I stopped playing quite early because I wasn't able to fully immerse myself in the game due to everything staying kinda the same as last playthroughs: I remember most of the quests, item locations, etc... However, the current playthrough is damn awesome again, I feel like I am immersed even more than I was when I first played Morrowind as a teenager (back in those days I didn't quite get all the political and religious nuances that make the world so beautifully dark and real). Few self-limits that helped to get that immersive feeling: *No "easily developed" skills like alchemy or acrobatics as major/minor *Don't use trainers for getting over basic levels of skill *Save only inside the city, everything outside the city is an adventure - you die in a tomb, return to the last city save *No logic-defying grabbing powerful items early in the game (e.g. it doesn't make any in-game sense that an outlander in an alien world would know where he can find that sweet glass longblade) *No robbing imperial forts/merchants for items for sale since it kinda breaks the economy a bit *Switching off the world map on adventures, ain't no Azura's GPS gonna guide me in those ashlands But tbh what helped the most was trying to blend a bit with the character. I keep myself a diary where I write down thoughts of my character and do a bit of character development. When you try to think like a person who just arrived to this world, it's natural to get lost there, to be weak or have shitty armor, to read local books and so on. Even many things and aspects of the world that I just took as granted now make way more sense and I notice more small beautiful details, as I look at this world through outlander's eyes. Right now I am roleplaying a dunmer from Cyrodiil who desperately wants to blend in the local society, which leads him to search acceptance and leads him to serve the extreme pro-dunmer organizations like Camonna Tong (playing with the mod that allows to roleplay Camonna really well) so he hopes one day be seen as a true dunmer, not some outlander n'wah. I love Morrowind every day more and more now, it's genuinely keeping me after midnight every day again. TLDR: Roleplaying and diary-keeping really helps with getting that exploration flavor of the game reinvigorated again. [link] [comments]
Would you erase your memory of Morrowind for a blind playthrough? Posted: 07 Jun 2020 12:28 AM PDT I wish I could experience Morrowind from a blank slate again! Such a compelling story and such freedom in gameplay and problem solving. But I wonder if my perspective would change due to today's graphical standards. At least without mods as I played on Xbox and havent done a modded playthrough of Morrowind yet. I cherish the memories I made playing it in the early/mid 2000's, some of my most formative years. But I wonder if I had this choice would I take it. What do you guys think? [link] [comments]
Posted: 06 Jun 2020 10:19 AM PDT it sucks, having low level skills means I miss a lot of attacks, trying to use magic without grinding the magic skill is completely redundant and having low health means a lot of stuff can one or two shot me . not to mention it takes you till about lvl 20 to begin to notice a difference between your character at level 5.(also it sends a dark brotherhood member with a dwarven sword after you at lvl 5 wtf) after level 20,it begins to calm down though thankfully but damn beginning game is really rough for me. Anyone familiar with Abot's real-time travel mods? Posted: 06 Jun 2020 10:27 PM PDT Boats, silt striders, gondolas, I wanna ride in em. I got all three off NXM, installed through MO2, disabled the TR esp because I don't have TR yet, but when I travel by any means, it still dates to black and auto travels. Do I need TR for the routes to work or something? Thanks for any help. [link] [comments]

Darius didn't make me do the first legions quests. Posted: 06 Jun 2020 08:25 PM PDT I made my way slowly up to Gnisis to join the legion; I was about level 7 when I got there. I expected I would have to do the quests about the women whose husband was murdered and the blighted egg-mine, but after letting me join, Darius was immediately like go investigate this wizard and then he was like find out about the talos cult, and then he didn't have anymore quests for me. Never seen this happen before. Do they just skip the starting quests if your over a certain level? [link] [comments]
How do enchanted weapons work? Posted: 06 Jun 2020 07:31 PM PDT I've found a fireblade that has an enchantment on it that lists it as "1 to 25pts" of fire damage - is this a random roll? I know that the weapon damage values go off of whether or not you hold the strike for a full attack, but does this apply to the enchants as well? [link] [comments]
Posted: 06 Jun 2020 02:15 PM PDT Been revisiting Oblivion of late as I played that to death back in day, and obviously played Skyrim with rest of world but been debating giving Morrowind a whirl. I don't think I'll have much issue adapting to graphics or controls as I've picked up plenty of games for first time decades after initial release before but with an RPG I can imagine it being more complicated. I'm already aware fast travel is not an option in Morrowind but does anyone have any tips to make getting into it easier? Starter builds that are easy to level, items or quests to get early on ect. Do NPCs drink potions and use scrolls? Posted: 06 Jun 2020 12:42 PM PDT Just curious about the gameplay mechanic. For example, if an NPC has potions of healing in their inventory, is in combat and wounded, will they use the potions? Will they use any other potions? [link] [comments]
Two problems that I need help with. Posted: 06 Jun 2020 01:33 PM PDT Ok so the first one is I'm not sure why but whenever I enter a town (balmora, seyda neen, etc...) I always get terrible framerate. Like it will go down to about 20. Whenever I'm inside or somewhere not close to a town I get fine fps. The second one is that whenever I look on my world map, I can't find myself. There's no map marker for me. I don't think I should lag anywhere in the game considering my pc has a gtx 1070, but ok. Thanks. [link] [comments] |
