RANDOMNERDALERT’S TIPS FOR MORROWIND BEGINNERS! Posted: 19 May 2020 09:08 PM PDT Given how many people are just starting to play this wonderful game, I have compiled a few tips for beginners here. Should I play? Why, yes! But, it takes effort. Be prepared to have to try the game a few times before getting into it. Still, it's really worth the effort to get into. And pay close mind to the following: Difficulty: It's hard at standard difficulty for a beginner. And if you create a super-build to get over that, it becomes easy as fuck. To find the middle ground, making it simpler while keeping it quasi-balanced, lower the difficulty. If it becomes unbalanced one way or another (happens very easily), raise or lower the difficulty as needed. Pacing: Slow. It's slow-paced and heavy on the reading (more on that later). There's some points where you will have to take a break. That's a perfect excuse to go exploring, doing sidequests, having fun. Enjoy Vvardenfell at the game's pace. Trust the game. Don't rush it, just as you wouldn't rush a good book—and Morrowind often feels like a book. Graphics: At first they'll look like something out of the Stone Age. Then you'll see a sunrise over the Ascadian Isles, and you'll fall in love with them. They've aged, there's no denying that, but they've aged quite well: they have a very strong sense of artistic direction, and that makes them look actually good once you've gotten used to them. Reading: A lot. A lot, and some of it is quite confusing at first. Ask NPCs about everything you possibly can. Most things will end up in your journal for future reference (the journal is liable to end up at hundreds and hundreds of pages, but it's organized so you don't lose track of topics). Reading the lore books as well is suggested, but not strictly necessary. Reading 2: Do yourself a favor by familiarizing yourself with MK's writing style, if you haven't already. I'll keep it spoiler-free, but there's a few points in the main quest where understanding it is very helpful (and borderline-necessary). You really don't want a plot-central character or plot-central books to sound like Heimskr's rant. Pick up the sermons and read them, or go find "The Arcturian Heresy" (among others) in Skyrim. Miscellaneous tips: "Varieties of Faith in the Empire" is not only a good (if somewhat counterintuitive in its organization) reference for the various deities who will be brought up in the plot, but a relatively painless way to avoid going cross-eyed when [SPOILER] starts talking (see above) or when you read a few of the required reading books (see below). The Dwemer thingy for the errand [SPOILER] sends you on close to the beginning is in the first room. Just find a way to climb up, defeat the guy, grab the thingy, and then explore if you so desire. But you don't need to explore. If you don't look in the first room you'll just get lost and look for the thingy forevermore. The history books given to you by various characters are going to help you understand the main plot. I'd say they're kinda required reading—they're gonna help you understand the situation, the importance of the situation, and where several different figures stand in it. They're part of the main plot. A few might be very dense, but read them. They're gonna give another dimension to the plot. Other things to keep in mind: The truth isn't always obvious, and it often lies in the middle. Treachery always lies in wait in the present and the past alike, but there are always a few people you can trust (are there?). And most of all: who are you, and where do you stand? You, the one on the prison ship, are the only person who can truly answer that question, or choose not to. [link] [comments]
Mods for Ashlander playthrough Posted: 19 May 2020 10:48 PM PDT So I'm looking to do an Ashlander playthrough and RP a traveling hunter who sells the hides and herbs he's gathered along his journeys. Mainly going between the Ashlander camps but going into certain great house towns when the need arises. I've downloaded most (but not all) of the mods in this awesome list: https://docs.google.com/document/d/10gQ-HiPrkB_pxwBLN57LvYoExd2mgy_9axeozL9si2Q/edit The bigger ones being Frostwind, Ashlander Prophecy, Fligg's slave mod, Julan and others and I'm running OpenMW. What I'm missing is mods that allow me to attack traveling merchants/caravans. Or get meaningful loot from raiding the N'wah's in imperial towns. Any ideas for these? Or any other Ashlander centric mods you'd recommend? [link] [comments]

started a character and am finally enjoying morrowind Posted: 19 May 2020 10:18 PM PDT I bought morrowind last year and could never get into it, but after listening to filthy rich and dagothwave, I've had an urge to play morrowind. I'm a dunmer warrior and am having a blast. Cant wait to hear Dagoth Ur's sexy voice in person. 10/10 would recommend [link] [comments]

Morag Tong and Telvanni rp justifications? Posted: 19 May 2020 11:08 PM PDT Hello! Recently I started to play Morrowind again. My Nerevarine is a nightblade, and I want him to join Morag Tong, because I never joined this faction in my previous rps and Telvanni, but I can't find an RP reasons for him to do so. Skeleton Key on Dead Adventurer Posted: 19 May 2020 10:02 PM PDT I was doing the main quest and a Dead Adventurer in Illunibi had the Skeleton Key on him. Not sure what mod could be causing this. Has anyone else ever had this happen to them, either in vanilla or modded Morrowind. [link] [comments]
Posted: 19 May 2020 09:52 PM PDT So Everytime I have played Morrowind I have always just found a cave, cleared it out and begun hoarding and stashing all my epic loot such as armor sets, legendary weapons and armor, alchemical ingredients and tools and so on. What places have you guys called your own? [link] [comments]
So what do I like, do to make the game more fun? Posted: 19 May 2020 09:30 PM PDT I've literally never played an elder scrolls game aside from like, an hour of Skyrim when I was 15 that I got bored of. I've heard a lot of good things about Morrowind and the only barriers for entry are how, hopefully not offending any purists here, insanely fucking ugly and dated the visuals are and how buggy the code is. I get that it's a game from 2002 and gameplay is what matters but I would prefer to see farther than 3 feet in front of my character and not have to restart the game every 20 minutes. What are some good mods to install to aid in stabilization/visuals? and uh. How exactly do I go about installing mods into a game without steam support? I'm not trying to alter the experience too radically beyond stabilizing and stuff. Please help i'm dumb [link] [comments]
With mods, my MW now looks 100% photorealistic. Screenshots inside (spoiler: it's Iceland). Posted: 19 May 2020 12:01 PM PDT After weeks of modding, I finally reached the recipe for the perfect, 100%, photorealistic Vvardenfell. Take a look. The Grazelands like you've never seen them before. Look at how those rays of light are beautifully rendered. Even fog (if you enable it) is rendered realistically. Brand new textures for Red Mountain. Infinite distant rendering. I almost cried when I took this screenshot. Seriously now, these are photos of Iceland (which DID remind of Vvardenfell often). Let me make it more visible to try and prevent any commenters taking this seriously: THIS IS NOT REAL. IT'S JUST ACTUAL PHOTOS WITH MORROWIND'S UI PASTED ON TOP. Enjoy! [link] [comments] |
